Understanding Hair Transplant Surgery
Men and women who are experiencing hair loss have an option in a surgical procedure called hair transplant or hair restoration. Today this procedure is very common and popular. It is a reality that men and women of today struggle with the problem of hair loss. This surgical procedure is perhaps the best solution to balding in men and women.
In this type of surgical procedure, hair is taken from other parts of the body and transplanted to the top of the head. Surgeons use hairs from other parts including the excess hair that grows around the back and sides of the scalp. The parts of the head is where these donor dominant hair grows. Wherever donor dominant hair is transplanted in a balding area, it will surely grow. There is one method of hair transplantation that has become popular today which is called follicular unit hair transplant. Compared to traditional hair transplant procedures, the follicular unit hair transplant is more superior. The results of this type of hair transplant compared to the old methods is that the hairs are thicker and closer together, and this is due to procedure of making smaller incisions and more precise placement of the hair follicles. In this method tissue is prepared and trimmed using high powered microscopes. This will enable surgeons to be able to place more grafts in a small space. A highly trained and skilled restoration surgeon carefully harvests the hair follicles.
Hair transplantation is an outpatient procedure where a person is given local anesthesia before surgery. The surgeon then removes follicles and hair growth in honor dominant parts of the body and divides them into individual grafts. These grafts are then inserted under the skin of the balding area of the head and are left them to grow new hair. The length of time in inserting grafts can take from six to eight hours, and it has to be done on more than one session until all the bald area is covered. The surgeon will put as many grafts as are needing for the balding parts of your head.
There is no immediate results for hair transplant. The transplanted hair will fall out of the follicles after transplant. When this happens the procedure did not fail but this is a normal occurrence. Relocation trauma will cause all the hairs to fall but after two to three months, new hair will grow from the transplanted follicles. In the next six months, there will be hair growth that will continue to thicken.
